The Irish are currently in a heated battle with Ohio State and USC for talented Linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa out of St. John Bosco High in California. Kyngstonn is rated as the 9th LB in the country and 87th overall player according to 247 Sports. What makes Kyngstonn so valuable is his versatility. He plays inside linebacker but projects to be able to play any LB position at the next level. Obviously, being a jack of all trades makes him a high profile recruit and one the Irish really need to land when he makes his decision on July 23rd. Linebacker is a need for the Irish 24' class, and getting a talent like KVA to anchor the position is pivotal. I would go as far to say that this is a must get for the Irish, as I am not sure they can find a proper replacement if they miss out on this one.

KVA stands at an impressive 6'3 230lbs. Last season he had 111 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss to go with 5.5 sacks and a pick. KVA also played against some great talent and helped lead his team to a 13-1 record, a state title, and the number 1 overall ranking in the country. This experience should be extremely valuable in helping him transition to college, as he played in front of almost 16,000 people in the state championship.
After watching his film, he is the total package. He is long, covers a lot of ground, especially for his size, and is very physical. He flies around the field to the ball and is not afraid to deliver a big hit. You can tell he has a natural nose for the ball and reacts without hesitation, which is something that our current linebackers struggled with last season in the new defense. His game reminds me of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, which is obviously a huge compliment. if he can turn out to be that kind of player, whoever lands him is getting an absolute stud!
Be sure to tune in to KVA's twitter page (@AsaViliamu) on July 23rd when makes his decision between the Irish, USC, and Ohio State. This one may come down to the wire!
