Notre Dame football's wide receiver recruiting has gone through quite the rollercoaster ride for its 2025 class.
Notre Dame had locked in commitments from NFL legacy prospects Elijah Burress and Jerome Bettis Jr. early in the recruiting cycle, but as the Irish looked to grow on their class, they struggled to find a headliner talent.
Over the course of summer, the Irish whiffed on three major prospects, losing Tanook Hines to the rival USC Trojans, Dylan Robinson to the Washington Huskies, and Derek Meadows, the highest rated prospect on the Irish's big board, to Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers.
After Meadows announced his commitment to the Bayou Bengals on July 20, general manager Chad Bowden made it clear that the Fighting Irish weren't out of the picture. Three months later, and Bowden's persistence has the Fighting Irish in a dogfight for Meadows' commitment late in the cycle.

With a towering 6'6 frame, Meadows has the ability to win 50/50 balls while also possessing elite downfield speed. Meadows serves as a rare prospect, a prospect that Notre Dame isn't necessarily accustomed to landing.
While the Irish still have a long way to go in this recruitment battle. still fending off LSU and also Michigan who Meadows visited today for their matchup against Oregon, this signals Notre Dame’s growing chances of bringing the Las Vegas star to South Bend.
It is extra encouraging considering that Meadows is electing to visit South Bend over the LSU next weekend as the Tigers are hosting the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Meadows has had a rather successful senior campaign, already amassing a career highs in receptions (19) and yards (445). He plays for Las Vegas powerhouse program Bishop Gorman that also produced former Notre Dame standout and first round pick Ronnie Stanley.
