Notre Dame has continued their strong start to the 2025 recruiting cycle, landing one of their top targets on the board in 4-star edge rusher Christopher Burgess Jr from Chicago by way of Simeon Career Academy. Burgess recently announced a top 4 which included some big names - Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan and the Irish. Burgess is considered a consensus 4-star, ranked as the 147th overall prospect, and 18th at his position via the 247 Sports composite rankings. Burgess announced his commitment live on NBC at 1PM, and Notre Dame's #1 recruiting class shows no sign of slowing down.

At 6'4 and weighing in at 240lbs, Burgess is the prototype edge rusher with a dynamic combination of strength and short area quickness. Through 6 games in the 23'-24' season, Burgess totaled 12 total tackles with two sacks, and four tackles for loss with a fumble recovery (MaxPreps). Burgess will look to build on a strong showing in his senior season before joining the Irish after signing day next December. It's safe to say that Marcus Freeman's tenacious approach on the recruiting trail, and getting in on these blue chip prospects early is paying major dividends.
